The below images are a small part of a very large collection of sketches of pacific canoes of many varied designs. The complete list of sketches must run into the hundreds. This looks like an excellent online resource. I have a suspicion that the sketches were scanned in from the Haddon and Hornell book, 'Canoes of Oceania' though this may not be correct. This book is no longer in print, which is a shame as it is really the bible on the subject and when a second hand copy comes up on Amazon.com it sells for a small fortune. You would think that would be enought justification for Bishop University Press to start up another print run. |
