This is a rig idea for small sail and oar boats. The idea is that it permits the occupant to undertake longer trips when they may wish to alternatively row for some time and then sail a little when wind is favourable. By folding the mast down just outside of gunnel (just inside of gunnel is also an option) the mast is out of the way for normal rowing. The advantage is that this layout allows for large built in buoyancy compartments fore and aft, as is common on many modern rowing boats. I estimate the mast ot weigh about 4kg. Boat shown for example purposes is 14.5 x 4.2ft. Proposed rig is modest at about 60 square feet. It may also be possible for the pivot point of the bipod to be towards the stern and the mast folds forward.
The last photo shows an example of a bipod rig in practice, in this case an indonesian boat
